Rachael Killen
Clinical Nurse Specialist, Wound Management & Continence Care
Rachael Killen is a skilled and compassionate Clinical Nurse Specialist with advanced expertise in wound management and continence care. With experience across community, acute hospital, and residential aged care settings, Rachael provides comprehensive, person-centred care for individuals with complex skin, wound and continence needs.
Rachael has completed a Bachelor of Nursing degree and a Graduate Certificate in Emergency Nursing. She has attended short courses through the Australian College of Nursing in Wound Management; Aged care Clinical Assessment and Applied Physiology for Nurses.
Rachael’s clinical areas of expertise include:
- Management of acute and chronic wounds
- Pressure injury prevention and treatment
- Diabetic and venous leg ulcers
- Negative Pressure Wound Therapy
- Post-operative wound care and dressing selection
- Skin integrity monitoring and education
- Oedema assessment and measuring for compression garments
Rachael is a committed member of Wounds Australia, and the Hunter Wound Interest Group, actively engaging in ongoing professional development and staying up to date with the latest best-practice guidelines in wound and continence care.
Rachael works collaboratively with clients, families, GPs, and care teams to ensure integrated, evidence-based care. Rachael is also passionate about staff education and regularly provides training to support workers and nursing teams to improve clinical outcomes and quality of life for the individuals they support.
